Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
