Individual That Touched Ariana Grande on the occasion of Movie Premiere Barred from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who jumped past a barrier and touched actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.
Johnson Wen, 26, was handed a penalty to over a week in detention for disrupting public order and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority informed local media.
The man shoved through camera crews and charged at the celebrity, who was present at the Asian debut for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.
He has a background of interrupting performances and star-studded occasions, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in this summer.
The incident provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The celebrity has spoken of suffering from PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her show in the UK city in spring of 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 individuals and hurt numerous attendees.
During Wen's trial, the authorities learned he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere multiple times, according to local news sources.
He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Security staff stopped him and held him in place.
Wen later posted videos thanking Grande for letting him on the carpet and said he was "released."
Authorities arrested him the subsequent day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which the man admitted guilt.
The District Judge the judicial official was cited by a news outlet as saying that Wen was "attention seeking", adding that he was incorrect to believe he would not experience repercussions.
Grande has not addressed the incident.
Erivo mentioned the incident to the press, stating that she "just wanted to verify my co-star was safe."
"I think he didn't intend us danger, but you cannot be certain with those things, and I aimed to confirm that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
