Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
