Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
