The January transfer window is always a period of feverish speculation and possible major moves. A number of high-profile stars find themselves linked with transfers out of their present clubs. We examine a selection of the major figures who might be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the forward available, indications are an important transfer is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal with a substantial buy-out clause active for a two-week window in early January. Recent developments point to Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his signature. Other suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

The England defender has continued to impress for Crystal Palace this season a summer move to Liverpool falling through. With his deal set to expire in the summer, January is the London club's final opportunity to secure a fee for their captain. A host of top clubs, including Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January exit is considered difficult, especially given the coach's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

This Wales winger has found starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Despite being the side's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has begun just a small number of league matches. It is understood the North London club is open to a sale for the right price, thought to be in the region of £40 million. The Cherries are currently at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

Spurs value Brennan Johnson at around forty million pounds.

R. Neves

The Portuguese midfielder could be poised for a return to the Premier League following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still just twenty-eight, while his agreement expiring in the summer, he is a potential bargain. Clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United have been connected to the player. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spain that he is willing to accept a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona following new manager Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a January exit looks increasingly probable. Aston Villa were once linked as a possible suitor, but that option now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be expressing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The prolific English striker has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could boost his fading chances of being in the national squad. But, securing a deal presents significant challenges. Al-Ahli do not wish to sell him, and his reported huge salary make any agreement complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

The striker was instrumental as Al-Ahli to victory in the domestic cup showpiece.

Conor Gallagher

This energetic midfielder drew considerable attention in the summer but stayed at Atlético. Having few starting appearances in Spain this term, he may be eager to secure more playing time ahead of the World Cup. United have been heavily connected, and a return to Crystal Palace, a club he excelled on a temporary deal, remains a option, although financial demands might be a problem.

H. Elliott

Despite excelling and being named the best player award at the U21 Euros last summer, the young player has struggled for minutes during his loan spell at Villa. The manager has confirmed the temporary transfer won't become permanent. Because of specific rules about playing for two clubs in a season, a return to his parent club prior to next season appears to be the only available outcome.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey forward is in fine form for Juventus this term. With his current deal nearing its end, many English sides – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the developments. Juventus are desperate to secure the 20-year-old to a new long-term contract but face a battle to retain one of Europe's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

The much-admired Dutch midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has become a regular in the AZ side. This 19-year-old is heavily tipped to make a big-money transfer this month. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
