Nearly 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the area, producing wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Rescue organizations received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.
